Quality

The Quality Management System of the Scottish Microbiology Reference Laboratories ensures that we provide a prompt, quality assured and clinically appropriate service to users throughout Scotland. This is done through a process of quality planning which is the part of quality management focused on setting quality objectives and specifying necessary operational processes and related resources to fulfil quality objectives.

Compliance Manager

The Compliance Manager for the North Glasgow Microbiology laboratories is Eric Martindale, who works as a part of the Microbiology Management Team and with its support to ensure the proper running of the quality management system. Jim Roud is the Quality Manager for the Scottish Microbiology Reference Laboratories.

Accreditation Status

All four Scottish Microbiology Reference Laboratories are fully accredited with Clinical Pathology Accreditation (UK) Ltd.

  1. Scottish Haemophilus, Legionella, Meningococcus & Pneumococcus Reference Laboratory.
  2. Scottish Parasite Diagnostic laboratory.
  3. Scottish Salmonella, Shigella & C.difficile Reference Laboratory.
  4. Scottish MRSA Reference Laboratory.

How to make complaints or comments

If a patient, a service user or a member of staff wishes to make a complaint, comment or suggestion they should write to the relevant laboratory stating their point and giving a contact address for our response. Telephone information will, of course, also be acted upon.
