DNA Fingerprint Patterns of Dominant Epidemic MRSA in Scotland

The Scottish Reference Laboratory (SMRSAL) was established in April 1997 in response to a rapid increase in the number of MRSA infections in Scottish Hospitals

The Laboratory is commissioned by the Health Protection Scotland (HPS) which is part of the NHS National Services Scotland, is based in the Microbiology Department of North Glasgow University Hospitals Division at Stobhill Hospital and provides a national MRSA reference service for laboratories throughout Scotland.
